Call for Chapters - -proposal date extended to 30th April 2007
Women’s health comprises a large range of activities including primary care and well-women services, fertility and reproductive health, screening and treatment for gynecological conditions and public health issues. Computer systems have become vital for the support of these activities, and are especially important in this domain because of the requirements of patient information, record keeping and service improvement. Many professionals are involved in this area including specialist and community based medical staff, Midwives and obstetric nurses, technical staff and researchers. Information systems for women’s health have to support life-long records that also need to link to other people including children, partners and other generations. The aim of this proposed book is to give a good general introduction to the areas of informatics that are important for women’s health. Also, provide an insight to the specific difficulties and challenges in this area. The audience will include Nurses and midwives, OBGYN’s , researchers and IT staff in this area. Students at postgraduate level and as a reference for departments. This book will provide a good grounding for postgraduate students in this area and bring together work from diverse sources to allow professionals to understand the state of the art in practice and research. It is proposed that an accompanying website be set up to allow linkage to websites that are relevant.
