This 90-minute Web-based introduction to nursing content in
SNOMED CT provides an overview of how SNOMED CT standardizes the concepts that nurses need for reporting and retrieving nursing-specific data and how nursing content serves the diverse needs of:
- electronic health record (EHR) vendors
- nurse content development users
- nursing terminology developers
- nursing end-users
- nursing educators; and
- nursing researchers.
Course Objectives
After viewing this presentation, you will have a better understanding of the following:
- The basic elements that comprise SNOMED CT
- Major hierarchies in SNOMED CT and their relevance to nursing-related content
- The primary use case for the choice of SNOMED CT for use in nursing practice
- The role of ANA-recognized nursing classification systems within EHR systems to represent nursing knowledge
- Content integration and knowledge representation
There will be additional time after 90 minutes for questions and answers as needed.
