SUMMARY:
This position exists to provide project leadership, coordinate service level work, training and implementation plan.Provides administrative assistance to the director, and represents the department and assigned service on related interdisciplinary work groups. Specific duties include assisting the director in planning, designing, directing and analyzing Nursing IS systems and related project and participates in the overall operational functions of the Nursing Information Systems department. The incumbent is expected to work collaboratively with physicians, department heads, clinical directors and clinical managers, and works in a matrix relationship to IS staff for assigned area of responsibility. This position participates in the development of the clinical information systems vision and strategic plan and assists with the communication of both to all clinical staff involved with the use of clinical information systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

2.Planning: Contributes toward successful implementation of annual operating plan and formulation of recommendations to achieve plan objectives. Plans, organizes, schedules and assigns all group work activities of team. Ensures proper and timely completion of work. Coordinates project team efforts with other teams within Patient Care Services, NIS, IS, as well as other departmental representatives. Assists in the investigation and definition of user requirements for system enhancements an new systems. Ensures timely resolution to day-to-day problems. Advises director of problems or situations requiring assistance. Participates in the testing of all system modifications, enhancements, and new systems. Assists in the development of user system/operational documentation.
3.Leadership: Assists with planning within assigned area, and directs and coordinates the ongoing activities to meet established objectives and aims. Displays cooperative behavior and willingness to work as a team member. Works effectively to achieve tam goals. Assures the delivery of quality customer service. Develops and maintains strong working relationship with clinical leadership and senior management to ensure close coordination and integration of medical staff, nursing and administrative goals, plans an strategies. Effectively communicates at all levels of the organization.
4.Personnel Management: Effectively manages assigned staff in a manner consistent with organizational policies and values.Maintains an employee feedback process to enhance work processes and employee understanding.
5.Accreditation: Ensures compliance with all applicable quality and accreditation standards within the assigned areas.
6.Financial Management: Provides for effective monitoring and financial management of assigned are4as. Seeks and recommends potential opportunities for cost containment and analyzes variances from budget plan or anticipated trends.
7.Continuous Improvement: Promotes and supports the participation of staff in applying the principle/model of continuous improvement to improve existing processes and enhance the effective utilization of resources (human and material). Evaluates own performance on a regular basis. Attends appropriate training, seminars and conventions. Seeks opportunities to learn new tasks and to improve performance on current tasks. Assesses training requirements of staff. Provides scheduled education and in-service training.
8.Department Accountabilities/Clinical Information Systems: As a member of the NIS team, this position will be responsible for facilitating changes, acting as a change agent in support of implementation processes of clinical information systems. Assists in the planning, development, production and implementation of clinical information systems. Through direct communication with customers, ensures systems are adequately meeting their needs and seeks to make improvements to these systems when necessary. Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills in working with a wide variety of departments and individuals. Assists in developing the departmental goals. Uses analytical and critical thinking skills. Assures that the operational issues on the campuses are addressed in a timely manner that achieves positive outcomes for all staff.
9.Continuous Improvement: Ensures optimal utilization of resource and quality while reducing costs. Works with others to continually identify areas for improvement.
10.Communication: Builds collaborative relationships with clinical and operational areas to facilitate an integrated clinical information system within assigned area of responsibility. Develops and maintains a communication system which ensures an effective flow of information. Acts as a liaison to facilitate communication and collaboration among the multidisciplinary team.
