Re: Are you currently working in an informatics role? We carry a daily patient census fo between 220 and 280. Our ED see around 50,000 patients a year. Currently the system in our ED is the only clinical documentation system. We do have one other nurse that I am aware of that works in an IT type roll, she oversees our HIS. As for the role of a Nursing informatics officer, you can get a lot of information on line by doing a search for nursing informarics. The short version is that I would be responsible for planning, and overseeing all the clinical systems in the hospital. Mny of the decisions in regards to clinical systems in the hospital would be the responsibility of this person. There is more to it, of course, but those are the basics. Matt N.

Re: Are you currently working in an informatics role? Actually, I'm a BSN student. Our program, I believe, is one of the few that require a Nursing Informatics class as a condition of graduation.

I am working as the Team Lead, Research and Outcomes for a hospital system that is implementing an EHR across seven facilities. I am tasked with capturing data elements useful to researchers and for reporting quality measures. Does anybody have experience in these areas? ![]()
