Re: Are you currently working in an informatics role? Yes, as a Product Support Analyst for a Surgical Manager product. My background is in OR Nursing, mostly in the Army, where I also received my nursing diploma. Also am an On-Call Firefighter ( as my username states.) Thinking about getting a Masters in either Healthcare or Nursing Informatics. Have to check into some programs and see where to go in the New Year! Jimmy

Re: Are you currently working in an informatics role? I have been an RN for the past 31 years. I received my BSN in 2006; and I am currently working towards a masters' degree. I work in occupational health nursing; and I'm interested in transitioning into nursing informatics. Can anyone advise me how I can get into nursing informatics. I do not work in a hospital setting, so it's difficult for me to get that experience. Currently, I work for the railroad; and we will be implementing EMR in the near future. Any advice? Thanks, Nancie

Re: Are you currently working in an informatics role? We are implementing CERNER System, a Kansas City based company but with a branch in San Francisco. They are covering worldwide too from Europe, Australia, Asia to Mideast. We have a couple of applications such as FirstNet (ED), CareNet (Inpatient), RadNet (Radiology), PathNet (Laboratory), Supply Chain (Main stores), ERM (Medical Records) & ESM (Scheduling) up for execution. We are planning to purchase INet for ICU & NICU Units but it has not been approved by the management yet. Three facilities in our city have started implementing the system & we're up next. The system is functioning as expected and most of the users are really grateful to have it.
