Can I start an NI position without a certificate or degree in this?

I am an RN at a small rural hospital but I would love to get into NI. I was wondering if it is possible to get a job without the certification or degree. I am planning on obtaining it but the only class I have taken is an intro course. Did anyone start without formal education in this field?

I'm trying to determine the same. All evidence seems to suggest atleast a BSN with some sort of IT experience or education
