Google Health is alive. [Links and screenshots inside]

There has been a fair amount of speculation, some tough questions, an interesting idea, and one pretty good guess regarding Google Health since the hiring of Adam Bosworth as the Architect for Google Health.

Last week, Kevin Maney posted a comment in his blog from Marissa Mayer, Google's VP of Search Products and User Experience, hinting that Google Health may be unveiled later this week, possibly on Wednesday.

Over the past couple of days, various sites have been pulling back the curtain to reveal the new Google Health functionality. Google Health search results have been intermittently available on at least one of Google's data centers. If Google Health isn't available when you go to have a look for yourself, you can take a look at some of the screen shots that have been posted on other sites.

Google Health offers a couple of different views of health related information. In the "For Patients" view, users get 6 filter options of:

• Treatment
• Tests & diagnosis
• From medical establishment
• For health professionals
• Symptoms
• Risk factors
• Alternative medicine

The "For health professionals" view adds 4 filters for:

• practice guidelines
• patient handouts
• continuing education
• clinical trials

FYI, the queries seems to work intermittently. I was able to click through all of the options presented and managed to get the screen shots below.

Maybe Google is going to buy Emdeon (formerly WebMD).

I heard that Emdeon is being bought by some company for around 2 billion in Cash. Maybe that company is Google...
