| CDC Study Shows Limited Use of Electronic Medical Records CDC Study Shows Limited Use of Electronic Medical Records Less than one-third of U.S. hospital emergency and outpatient departments-and only 17 percent of doctors' offices--use electronic medical records, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study also found that only 8 percent of physicians use computerized physician order entry (CPOE), although physicians under age 50 were twice as likely to use it as older doctors.
