| Nursing Informatics Systems Specialist II NURSING INFORMATICS SYSTEMS SPECIALIST II Job Code: 2627 Level: 73 Job Family: 32, Nursing - Administrative & Ambulatory Care Effective Date: 11/08/04 FLSA: Exempt Occupational Summary: The Nursing Information System Specialist (NISS) II has expert knowledge of a specific clinical discipline and advanced knowledge of information technology and its applications to healthcare. The NISS II applies best practices to the management of the clinical information system life cycle. Work Performed: Analyzes, designs and researches clinical information systems and processes. Analyzes customer requirements; researches, designs, acquires and implements innovative systems. Evaluates and revises existing clinical information systems. Provides analysis and advanced support including hardware maintenance, trouble shooting, component replacement and repair, system monitoring and the installation and maintenance of software. Plans and presents customer training sessions; Makes oral and written presentations to project teams and other departments. Conducts continuing education sessions and new employee training. Precepts NISS Level I. Coordinates and operationalizes simple to complex projects with direction. Optimizes departmental and interdisciplinary resources to maximize team. Initiates, writes and evaluates system, operational and department documentation. Identifies areas for procedural improvements. Provides detailed specifications describing functions to be automated. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. MINIMUM HIRING SPECIFICATIONS NURSING INFORMATICS SYSTEMS SPECIALIST II Job Code 2627, Job Level 73, Job Family 32 EDUCATION/TRAINING Work requires education equivalent to a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Computer coursework preferred. Works requires licensure as a registered nurse in North Carolina. EXPERIENCE Work requires experience equivalent to five years of clinical nursing experience; and three years of information system management which includes participation as member of a development team implementing a major information system OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE SKILLS PROJECT MANAGEMENT QUALITY ASSURANCE ADULT LEARNING AND TRAINING METHODS; DESIGN COMPLEX INFORMATION SYSTEMS; IMPLEMENT COMPLEX INFORMATION SYSTEMS; MAINTAIN COMPLEX INFORMATION SYSTEMS; ADVANCED TECHNICAL CONSULTATION AND SUPPORT DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS FOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS; PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES CONTRACT NEGOTIATION THEORY EFFECTIVE ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION; CURRENT PRACTICES IN SPECIALTY AREA; CUSTOMER SERVICE CRITICAL THINKING EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS ABILITY TO LIFT 50 POUNDS ABILITY TO CRAWL, BEND AND STOOP Revised Date: 11/08/04 |
