Clinical Database Specialist

Job Description:

* Lead the implementation of NYUHC's integrated clinical cardiovascular database.
* In collaboration with IT, assure that applicable interfaces with other pertinent interfaces are established and maintained.
* Supervise data entry for all pertinent elements by appropriate clinical staff.
* Develop and carry out data quality assessment routines.
* Assure timely and accurate submission of cardiovascular data to regulatory and external quality performance measurement registries, including (but not necessarily limited to) the NY State DOH; the ACC-NCDR; the STS Adult Cardiac Surgery; STS Pediatric Cardiac Surgery; ACC-ICD.
* Develop internal quality performance measures and regular reports, to support departmental and organizational quality improvement goals.

Qualifications:

* Minimum Bachelor's degree, prefer Master's degree or higher, in pertinent field (clinical informatics; information management; biostatistics; epidemiology; public health; health care administration; or similar field).
* Clinical degree and/or experience preferred.
* Proven ability to lead complex projects, working with professionals with a variety of skills and backgrounds.
* Familiarity with clinical information, including diagnostic coding and clinical databases.
* Working knowledge of statistical analysis and programs; research methods; epidemiologic study design; quality performance measurement; quality improvement.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a track record of successful presentation of analytic findings to clinical leaders.
