Job Title: Informatics Nurse Educator
Job Summary:
The nurse educator for
clinical informatics works interdependently with a multidisciplinary team of health care providers and the information technology department to create and provide innovative, comprehensive educational programming, including hands-on experiences for
RNs, MDs, and other disciplines related to Clinical Information Systems core applications. This includes development and delivery of orientation, inservice training, and continuing education. The nurse educator has expertise in curriculum development, teaching/learning strategies/theories and the nursing process. He/she is responsible for: determining training needs, developing Clinical Information Systems training curriculum, writing policies and procedures for Clinical Information Systems that underpin training efforts, working with IT and nursing informaticists to test software, writing technical documents, and ensuring clinical documentation competency for all RNs and Patient Care Services staff.
Required Qualifications: - Current licensure in the State of California as a Registered Nurse
- A master’s degree in a healthcare field
- Minimum two years experience in acute/critical care nursing with demonstrated leadership capacity
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent communications skills and extraordinary skill in interpersonal relations
- Experience working with PC workstations, using application software including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Netscape or Internet Explorer, Windows 2000/XP
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous teaching experience
- Experience with clinical systems implementation
- Experience with IDX CareCast
- Experience with PICIS applications
- Masters in Nursing Informatics preferred
- License/Certification Current licensure in the State of California as a Registered Nurse.
- ANCC certification in informatics, preferred
