Clinical Informatics Nurse Specialist

General Summary:

• Responsible for coordinating between Nursing and Information Services all aspects of clinical information systems to assure that existing and future clinical information systems facilitate clinical practice and delivery of patient care. Responsible for development, scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of clinical systems educational programs and services.
• Assists with database management for the Nursing Education Department and e-learning environments.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing is required.
• A Master's degreee in clinical informatics or related information systems field is required.
• Current nursing licensure in the state of Maryland is required.
• Progressive experience to include a minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital environment.
• Additionally must have two (2) years of clinical informatics nursing experience providing a leadership role implementing and supporting health care clinical systems.
• Must have broad knowledge of over all hospital operations.with prior management experience preferred.
• Must possess knowledge of new trends in clinical practice and information systems and be able to apply the knowledge to the clinical and physician service areas.
• Knowledgeable about information systems and their function to support nursing practice.
• Must be competent in the design and implementation of applications of nursing informatics science to nursing practice problems and analysis and evaluation of information requirements for nursing practice.
• Must be knowledgeable of current information technology security and confidentiality, JCAHO accreditation standards, and state requirements.
• Must possess the ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical writing, and interpersonal skills, and ability to work through issues in a professional manner.
• Proven oral and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to work hard, handle pressure, meet deadlines and be a good team player.

Working Conditions:

• Individual will be exposed to computers on a regular basis and will need to take appropriate breaks from the computer.
• Visual and auditory acuity as well as manual dexterity skills are required.

Salary: $26.11-$44.28
