Scope

This position will require strong information systems, analytical, financial, database, and interpersonal skills. The position will require an understanding of healthcare operations, the clinical research process, patient care, statistics, and hospital financial data.

Essential Job Functions

' Consults with and assists physicians, researchers, executives, and other professionals by delivering data that involve conducting analysis and developing reports utilizing clinical, financial, billing, demographic, physician, and/or statistical information.

' Provides assistance by delivering information to support various projects that include, but are not limited to, quality improvement, cost containment, protocol-specific performance monitoring, clinical outcomes analysis, physician resource utilization, and market analysis.

' Demonstrates an ability to integrate clinical, financial, cost, demographic, billing and other data from various sources when conducting analysis and preparing reports.

' Ensures that all deliverables are accurate, complete, and contain definitions, sources of data, and department identification.

' Collaborates in clinical and operational research projects.

' Understands the data contained within the Enterprise Information Warehouse (EIW) and uses it appropriately when providing analysis and other deliverables.

' Demonstrates ability and a working knowledge of personal computer applications such as, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, statistical, and graphical tools.

' Provides end user support regarding data sources (such as the EIW & other Medical Informatics databases), as well as guidance in the appropriate use of query building, institutionally support business intelligence, and reporting applications.

' Assists data warehouse staff in the design, testing, and maintenance of departmental systems.

' Provides information to the institution, divisions, and departments to support short-term and long-range planning.

' Participate in data quality programs that address work processes that affect the quality of data entered and stored by various institutional systems.

' Provides customer support for the products deployed by the Department.

' Participates in special projects, as assigned by the Informatics Manager or Director of Medical Informatics.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, or health care discipline.

Preferred: Masters degree or higher in business, accounting, finance or health care discipline.


Experience

Required: Five years of business/finance/management experience in a healthcare setting. May substitute related experiences for healthcare experience.

Preferred: Seven years of business/finance/management experience in a healthcare setting with emphasis on analysis. May substitute related experiences for healthcare experience.
