| Director, Clinical Informatics Director, Clinical Informatics SUMMARY: - Collaborates with the Regional Operations for the implementation and utilization of information technology in clinical patient care and documentation, such as the Electronic Health Record (EHR), “computerized” physician order entry (CPOE), bedside references and resources such as PEPID, “ePocrates”, etc., and other resources.
- Evaluates IT applications in light of needs of the company and associated clinical providers.
- Provides technical training and support to end users.
- Works collaboratively with operations and contract sites (through their appointed representatives) in the use of clinical information systems.
- Provides leadership and support to identify, develop, implement and maintain efficient and effective clinical information systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist in the design, configuration and implementation of clinical systems. Supports the regional operations in their implementation and utilization of clinical systems.
- Provides technical training and support to end users.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date a database and knowledge of the ED IT systems in use, contemplated at contract sites and available in the wider EM market.
- Be a resource to Medical Directors, Physicians and hospital clients on the features, strengths and weaknesses of the various systems.
- Monitor EDIS implementations and develop system start-up impact assessments on such measures as physician productivity, revenue capture, ROI, etc.
- Identify best practices needed to mitigate adverse impacts.
- Develop a standardized plan with timetable for choosing, purchasing, and implementing EM information technology.
- Develop a template plan to address the activities needed to assure a smooth, automated, information flow from the hospital client to RTI for billing and CMS compliance purposes, including as it relates to PVRI.
- Use clinical knowledge, informatics knowledge, practice experience, research background, critical thinking, and leadership skills to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to promote quality care through the application of emergency department informatics.
- Work with clients to define project objectives and manages the priorities within the project and time lines.
- Assist clients in problem identification and resolution.
- Demonstrate skills in coordinating problem resolution activities.
- Coordinate system analysis, design and implementation of applications of clinical informatics science to emergency department practice problems.
- Coordinate maintenance including processing and follow-up of requests for enhancement and changes from users or others affected by the system.
- Provide leadership to emergency departments to identify, develop, implement and maintain efficient and effective clinical information systems.
- Coordinate evaluation of project goals with pilot and full implementation of CIS projects.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining system security.
- Evaluate and perform quality control checks on IS updates/revisions; participated in testing of documentation systems before actual production occurs.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Weekly travel required.
Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Requires a minimum of a BSN with current state licensure; MSN preferred.
- Advanced degree in healthcare informatics/information science preferred or equivalent training and work experience in healthcare informatics.
- Proven and effective track record of interacting at the senior executive level.
- Requires knowledge of:
- clinical management processes and procedures
- standards and compliance issues
- managed care insurance business processes, data, systems and applications
- testing processes
- project management skills
- presentation skills
- Requires a demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal and project management skills.
- Requires familiarity with a wide variety of field concepts practices and procedures.
- Requires advanced computer skills with high level knowledge of MS Office Suite and electronic charting, billing, patient tracking, physician order entry and other clinical ues.
- Requires well-developed management skills.
