Clinical Content Manager

Job Description:

SUMMARY
  • The Clinical Content Manager is responsible for planning and organizing the clinical content related to Bon Secours clinical transformation process known as ConnectCare.
  • The Manager is a clinician who is knowledgeable about order set components and their relationship to the care and treatment of inpatients.
  • The Manager understands the clinical documentation needs of Registered Nurses and other clinical disciplines within the inpatient setting.
  • The Manager is familiar with organizational policies, procedures, business operations, and regulatory requirements related to orders and clinical documentation.
  • The Manager is knowledgeable about national standards related to quality and safety.
  • Under the supervision of the Vice President for Quality, the Manager will communicate to members of the Physician Design and Clinical Documentation Teams, analyze orders requirements specific to Bon Secours, analyze clinical documentation needs and work with content vendors and Epic to customize content and achieve Bon Secours validated order sets and clinical documentation tools.
  • The Manager will participate in current state mapping and future state workflow development, application design and development, content issues resolution, implementation and ongoing support.
  • Key decisions documents will be used to frame decision dialogue and support consensus building among clinicians.
  • The Manager will contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to orders and clinical documentation.
  • The Manager will participate in Epic Resolution Sessions with stakeholders where decisions will be made related to content, workflow and clinical practice overall.
  • The Manager will ensure alignment of orders and clinical documentation content with the clinical transformation objectives of the Epic implementation.
  • The incumbent will identify and manage resistance to change and contribute to strategies to mitigate resistance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A representative summary of tasks to be performed by the incumbent is provided below. The incumbent may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in the description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with mission, values and operating principles of Bon Secours.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college in the Health Sciences (Nursing, Medicine, etc.).
  • Clinical or operational experience in inpatient clinical practice
  • Demonstrated proficiency with information systems technology
  • Superior goal accomplishment skills
  • Demonstrated workflow process analysis and design
  • Demonstrated facilitation/training skills
  • Strong assertiveness skills, ability to manage conflict in a variety of situations
  • Effective leadership skills and strong customer service orientation
  • Superior organizational and people management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to align and motivate key process stakeholders, including nurses, physicians, and other clinical/administrative staff
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong skills in MS Office software Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with implementing clinical information systems and/or large-scale and complex standardization and implementation of an ERP is highly desirable
  • Epic certification in the orders and/or clinical documentation applications
  • Demonstrated clinical systems implementation skills
  • Experience in Epic installations
Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Manager coordinates the planning and organization of orders and clinical documentation content development. In addition to the duties discussed above, the incumbent is responsible for the following:
  • Knowledgeable about all components of orders and clinical documentation content
  • Plans, organizes and facilitates processes to support physicians in development of order sets and physician documentation
  • Plans, organizes and facilitates processes to support RNs and disciplines to develop content for clinical documentation tools such as assessments, flowsheets, care plans and patient education tools
  • Assesses content implementation strategies and the impact those strategies will have on workflows and operations
  • Documents the current and future state workflows that are impacted by clinical documentation
  • Understands how content and functionality impact practice workflow
  • Contributes to policy and procedure development that will be used in conjunction with the orders and clinical documentation applications
  • Achieves in-depth knowledge of the software and serves as a super user and support in the training of end users
  • Conducts regular day-to-day communication with content vendors; works with vendors to tailor content to organizational needs
  • Contributes to practice workflow analysis and redesign
  • Acts as a contact and coordinator for questions and issues that arise related to clinical content
  • Troubleshoots content problems or questions from users
  • Participates in regular status reporting
  • Prepares detailed content specifications as needed
  • Collects information regarding potential system enhancement needs related to content
  • Supervises and mentors assigned analyst
  • Other duties as assigned
