Manager, Clinical Terminology
Job Description:
Responsible for overall coordination of Clinical Terminology Team.
- Manage Clinical Terminology staff resources. Creates work plan and development plans. Conducts annual performance reviews for team members. Provides constructive feedback to employees to encourage growth and development. Assists employees in planning career development. Tracks and reports individual performance measures.
- Coordinate and manage projects to ensure terminology deliverables are met on time. Optimize use of available resources. Establish priorities in alignment with corporate goals.
- Expected to provide terminology support, expertise and guidance related to terminology, primarily SNOMED-CT.
- Develop policies and guidelines for issues related to Clinical Terminology
- May provide support to other departments and business units as required.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of Health Informatics
- Skills in planning and organization, to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to provide leadership and effective communication
- Ability to evaluate, synthesize, analyze ill-defined complex problems and then to generate novel solutions.
- Ability to be flexible and re-frame problems so that solutions become clearer, accommodating seemingly ambiguous solutions.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in matrix environment and at all levels in organization
- Advanced Degree plus 4 years relevant experience; or BA/BS Degree plus 6 years relevant experience.
- Prior experience in supervising employees preferred.
- Prior experience in managing projects preferred.
- Familiarity with clinical vocabulary structure, term mapping, indexing, content modeling and integrating clinical vocabularies preferred
