Clinical Informatics Coordinator (Care Transformation)

This position is to provide a
Nursing Informatics resource for facilities and Banner Health. "Nursing Informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice. Nursing informatics facilitate the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support patients, nurses, and other providers in their decision-making in all roles and settings. This support is accomplished through the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology" (American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Nursing Informatics). As a resource, the Informatics nurse provides on-going user and informatics support for various teams and committees throughout the facility and maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of Nursing and
Healthcare Informatics. This position supports the Banner Health vision and direction for clinical computer systems, process design, data management and related processes. The informatics nurse serves as a liaison between the facility and the Clinical Information System IT team to communicate user needs and facilitate system modification to meet user needs.
Salary/Range: $19.51 to $31.18 / hour
Responsibilities: 1. Decision Support/Outcomes Coordinator
- Coordinates and facilitates on-going clinical information system evaluation including: user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
- Develops and implements action plans as needed to support user accuracy, data integrity and system reliability.
- Provide quality first line support for facility users of clinical applications.
- Participates in post implementation change evaluation and supports users in maintaining changed Work flow and technological processes.
2. Educator
- Coordinates the delivery, and evaluation of clinical staff education related to the Clinical Information Systems, supported by the Care Transformation franchise model maintained by a centralized training team.
- Utilizes adult learning principles to deliver standardized content and materials.
- Coordinates the training provided during new employee orientation to support competency of new users in their use of the Information Systems.
- Tracks education enrollment, attendance and completion utilizing the organization's online learning center.
- Ensures data is maintained timely and accurately.
- Collaborates with local IT support to maintain the computer classroom environment.
- Uses classroom evaluations to provide feedback to the Centralized Training Team and suggests opportunities to enhance training courses based on trainee feedback.
3. Consultant/Project Support
- Maintains on-going user communication and support to assure user competency.
- Collaborates with end-users to help define health care information problems and identifying methodologies for implementing, utilizing and modifying informatics solutions and data structures that support health care access, delivery, and evaluation.
- Provides consultation and project support in conjunction with the Deployment Managers and Project Managers for the deployment of new IT clinical applications.
- Utilizes communication skills and leadership skills to work collaboratively with team members and person from various constituencies in the accomplishment of required tasks.
4. Policy Support
- Supports staff in the use of existing technology in a manner which promotes maintenance of patient safety and confidentiality and supports Care Transformation process and principles.
- Supports the development and maintenance of facility-specific and Banner-wide policy and procedures related to the information systems.
5. Product Development
- Participates in interdisciplinary/interfacility process improvement teams to identify potential future uses of the information systems and potential improvements in the current use of the systems.
- Develops and maintains surgical preference cards and surgical schedules within the computer system.
- Develops surgical reports for Surgery Department use.
Qualifications:
- This position requires current RN licensure in practicing state.
- Must possess knowledge of clinical nursing practice and adult learning principles.
- Must possess basic understanding of the integrated Operating Room system.
- Computer skills preferred.
