Nursing System Analyst

DESCRIPTION:

The Nurse Systems Analyst is responsible for the overall support and development of current and future nursing computer systems. These systems currently include the MEDITECH modules of Nursing, PCI, Order Entry, and Surgery. Other non-Meditech systems include MSM’s ED Tracker and the L&D QS system. This position will evaluate and promote new technologies for use at NAMC.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use troubleshooting skills to resolve computer system problems and/or application issues as they pertain to nursing areas.
• Organize and conduct facility specific meetings as needed. Attend, organize, and lead other meetings as requested.
• Test or oversee the testing of all software updates, new releases, and enhancement requests for assigned modules.
• Provide backup and support for other departmental personnel.
• Serve as a focal point for communication with applicable departments about computer system concerns and other related MIS issues.
• Help to develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of IS services.
• Continually assess and improve the performance of IS services provided.
• Function as part of the MIS ´TEAM´ for the support of all hospital IS related services.
• As NAMC participates in the SDHP, the following are listed to describe the level of involvement and support that this position will provide to the Austin Market and the Clinical Market Analyst.
  • Act as liaison between the facility and the Market Analyst to facilitate Meditech and other nursing systems changes
  • Participates in development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the goals of the market.
  • Assist with the testing of applications that are market based or structured.
  • Participate as an NAMC representative on the Market Nursing Analyst Team to help with nursing systems changes, enhancements, and development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

• Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and North Austin Medical Center.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

• Required: Bachelors Degree (commensurate experience may be substituted for education).
• Preferred: Two years of experience with the Meditech system.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

• Required: Texas RN license
• Preferred: None
