Description: POSITION SUMMARY:

The (Clinical) Nurse Informatics Specialist is responsible to provide expertise and support in the development and implementation of clinical applications at Tri-City Medical Center. Ensures that the new technology is used appropriately, established technical and quality standards are followed, solutions are cost effective and the information needs of clients are met. Provides training for clinical staff in Compass for existing and new applications. Consults with other IT staff and representatives from TCMC departments. Provides assistance and support to the Director of Surgical Services. Coordinates special system projects in support of organizational strategic initiative goals. The Clinical Nurse Informatics Specialist for SurgiNet serves as a professional leader and resource for professional staff. Acts as a role model in support of the mission and values of the Medical Center. Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least five (5) years clinical OR (procedure) preferred experience, BSN preferred
• Demonstrates initiative, integrity and possesses sense of values and ethical standards.
• Possesses knowledge and experience with Clinical Information System implementation and builds, automated data systems, personal computing skills, hospital information system database analysis and display.
• Strong computer and organizational skills. Ability to manage databases and retrieve, analyze, summarize and present information effectively.
• Knowledge of clinical orientation support and quality improvement.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred, other degrees (Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or HealthCare Administration) may be accepted based on skills and five years of experience.

LICENSE:

• Current California RN license required.

CERTIFICATION:

• CNOR preferred
• Informatics certification preferred or to be obtained within one year of employment.
• Project management certification preferred.
