Primary Purpose:
The Director,
Nursing Informatics is the nurse champion for the
Electronic Health Record (E-HR) and is responsible for leading the care model transformation process and nursing workflow redesign. He/she is responsible for coordinating all nursing related work flow assignments, providing direction and oversight to the subject matter experts and leading multiple teams through all phases of the E-HR development, implementation and post go live evaluation.
This position serves as the primary nursing liaison with Sutter E-HR team and actively participates on the System-wide Sutter Architectural Model (SAM) and Interdisciplinary Clinical Content Build (ICCB) Teams. The Director, Nursing Informatics reports directly to the Vice President of Nursing Services, and serves as an active member of the Nursing Leadership Team. The Director works collaboratively with the CPMC IT staff in all phases of the E-HR implementation to insure readiness of the the nursing workforce and a positive benefits realization.
The Nursing Director maintains a broad knowledge of new technologies and acts as a resource to the clinical staff, nursing leadership, and the IT department in assessing new technological opportunities that impact/improve care delivery, and enhance patient safety and /or workflow efficiency.
Job Requirements- Master's degree in Nursing, Management Information Systems/Business Administration or healthcare related field.
- Current California RN license required.
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience (clinical) in an inpatient setting or comparable position with strong knowledge of nursing workflow, practice standards and clinical documentation requirements .
- Accomplished team-oriented leader with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated achievements in leading teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Visio
- Previous experience in clinical data management and workflow design desirable
- Obtains ANCC certification (Nurse Informatics or Clinical Specialty) within 18 months of hire into position
- Demonstrated skills in analytical, strategic and critical thinking, negotiation and relationship building.
- Possess strong skills in project management, process redesign, written/verbal communication, physician relations and customer satisfaction.
- Decisive, flexible, results oriented problem solver with the ability and desire to achieve goals quickly.
- Proven leadership abilities with a comprehensive knowledge of healthcare information systems and understanding of clinical applications from a user perspective.
- Proactive in bringing issues forward, building consensus and delivering practical solutions.
- Comfortable presenting to senior management, physicians and all levels of staff.
