The Rural Emergency
Medical Service Training and Equipment Assistance Program (REMSTEP) has made $360,000 in funds available to improve
emergency medical services in rural areas. HRSA funds the program to help develop new ways to educate and train
emergency health care providers using technology-enhanced educational methods. From Federal Telemedicine

To be eligible, applicants must be involved in emergency services training, and applicants can include State
Offices of Rural Health, State Emergency Medical Services offices, associations, individual agencies, local
governmental entities, and federally recognized Indian tribes.

HRSA will be using a pre-application process with a deadline of 1/10/05. The full proposal is due 3/11/05. The
project will start approximately on 9/1/05 and end on 8/31/06. The average size of the awards will be
$120,000-$185,000.
