| According to Federal Computer Week, a Navy hospital ship, the USNS Mercy, could possibly be deployed on humanitarian mission to aid victims of last week’s tsunami in South Asia.* The ship has wideband satellite communications capabilities that would allow it to use telehealth systems to assist victims. Reportedly, the Mercy has hundreds of shipboard terminals running an electronic medical record system, and teleradiology systems, which can transmit X-rays taken onboard to radiologists at NMC San Diego for interpretation. http://telemedicine.weblogsinc.com/e...4000050026321/ |
