| A recent article in e-Week takes a look at how health IT spending is shaping up for 2005. Despite the fact that major health care providers are financially stressed and federal government resolve may be shaky, 2005 should still produce advances in health IT for U.S. hospitals. * The article quotes projections from the health care group of technology consulting firm Capgemini indicating that hospitals are expected to increase capital expenditures on health IT for the coming year by anywhere from 6 percent to 10 percent. That increase will step up operating budgets, which are expected to swell to 3.5 percent, from 2.5 percent last year. The ultimate cost savings that investments in IT improvements produce are driving these increases in capital expenditures. http://telemedicine.weblogsinc.com/e...4000570025432/ |
