| The Wisconsin Hospital Association has unveiled a new Website that discloses certain health care costs and allows for comparison of charges among hospitals statewide for more than 60 common medical problems, according to an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. While the site does not show the actual prices charged to insurers, and instead reveals*the “retail,” or list prices—which almost no one pays—the information is timelier and more comprehensive than data provided by previous disclosure efforts. Reportedly, State Representative Gregg Underheim (R-Oshkosh), chairman of the Assembly Health Committee said the new effort doesn’t go far enough. He will be satisfied when consumers can get data on the actual prices and quality of specific procedures at each hospital. http://medicalinformatics.weblogsinc...4000900032314/ |
