| The Albany Times Union recently looked at the pros and cons of “the new frontier of e-medicine.” The article looks at the Department of Veterans Affairs, which began introducing an electronic medical record system in the 1980s. That system is now considered a sort of benchmark for the integrated EMR concept. According to the article, veterans’ medical records are now fully electronic and available at each and every VA clinic and hospital. While other health systems have also have implemented electronic patient records, a significant obstacle to adoption remains the cost associated with the new technology as well as training staff and loss of productivity during the transition, the article states. http://telemedicine.weblogsinc.com/e...4000877025572/ |
