| A report conducted jointly by Maryland-based Phoenix Health Systems, an information*systems consultant firm,*and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society indicates that only*18% of healthcare providers and 30% of payers reported being in compliance with information-security rules that take effect on April 20 as part of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. The report surveyed 400 providers and payers in January 2005. As the deadline looms closer, fewer organizations said they expected to meet the security requirements by the deadline: 74% of providers and 80% of payers, down from 87% and 91%, respectively, in June 2004. A PDF of the*survey report is available here. http://medicalinformatics.weblogsinc...4000583032344/ |
