| A healthcare task force that includes Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and Capital Regional Medical Center (CRMC), as well as representatives of several North Florida communities, is laying the groundwork for improving medical care across the Panhandle by taking advantage of IT advances. This according to an article in the Tallahassee Democrat. Some of the improvements: CRMC installed laptop computers between every two rooms so clinicians could use them as workstations when treating patients. A robot in the pharmacy automatically fills prescriptions. CRMC has also developed a Web-based system that allows providers to read X-rays and patient charts from their homes. This is good news in rural sections of the Panhandle. Emergency medical technicians who staff ambulances now can transmit information from heart-monitoring devices back to the hospital, where a cardiologist can analyze them and ED docs can transmit treatment orders back to the scene. http://medicalinformatics.weblogsinc...4000577029775/ |
