| Memorial Healthcare System’s new 128-bed hospital in South Broward County is opening this week and is about as high-tech as a hospital can be, according to the South Florida Business Journal. The publicly funded health care system reportedly*spent $143 million to build Memorial Hospital Miramar, which will open to patients on Thursday, March 17. Although the aesthetic features make the hospital feel more like a hotel, it is the array of the latest health care technology that makes it stand out. The hospital is nearly paperless, and among the most advanced in South Florida. Almost all records, from patient charts to radiological images and blood work, will be kept digitally and made available throughout the five-hospital Memorial system. Memorial Miramar nurses will utilize wireless computer carts as they visit patient rooms. The wireless Internet access covers the entire hospital and is also available for personal laptops. Technology will assist with patient safety as well. Patients will wear tracking tags on their hospital gowns that will allow staff to pinpoint patient location and newborns will have the tags built into their umbilical cord clips. http://medicalinformatics.weblogsinc...4000270035959/ |
