| According to a Florida Hospital Association (FHA) survey, the state’s demand for registered nurses slowed in 2004, as the vacancy rate for RNs fell to 8.2%, down from 9.9% a year earlier. Reportedly, Florida nurse vacancy rates have declined each year since 2001, when hospitals reported 15.6% of RN positions open. In 2004, the most sought-after RNs were step-down or telemetry nurses, followed by certified nurse anesthetists. A PDF of the survey can be found here.
