The World of Health IT Conference [Geneva, Switzerland - Oct 2006]

The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition

October 10 - 13, 2006

Geneva, Switzerland

The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition promises to be a first of its kind event, attracting leaders and experts in health IT from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition has been designed for and by the healthcare IT community in the EMEA region — be they technology users, buyers, vendors, providers or healthcare regulators.
Addressing the perspectives of clinicians, directors and other healthcare professionals, The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition will offer:
  • Educational sessions
  • Vendor exhibitions
  • Best practice exchange
  • Networking sessions
  • Other professional development opportunities
Conference
The World of Health IT Conference bridges the gap between public policy and the realities of day-to-day implementation. Prominent representatives from major world bodies will provide insight into emerging trends, while managers, practitioners and technicians will provide case studies, tips and solutions. The multi-track educational programme will:
  • Highlight current and future challenges
  • Stimulate debate
  • Provide practical solutions
  • Enhance learning
Exhibition
The World of Health IT Exhibition will robustly complement the Conference, gathering some 100 exhibitors from around the region to demonstrate new strategies, tools and technology designed to enhance the day-to-day quality of healthcare delivery through ICT.

The Big Issues

The Healthcare IT universe is made up of a number of disparate professional disciplines and interests. These range from the day-to-day realities of management, integration of ICT and interoperability, patient care and data transmission, through to the supra-national regulatory frameworks and action plans from the European Commission and the World Health Organization (WHO). Also contributing to the disparity are the self-regulatory frameworks which demand standardisation, accreditation and certification.

The paradox in today’s health marketplace is the need to demonstrate return on investment in the midst of infrastructure and organisational change. Yet to ensure successful delivery of healthcare, investments in information technology are necessary. Adoption of this technology, in turn, means more change.

How can organisations balance the need to drive healthcare information technology adoption with minimum disruption?

Who should attend?

The World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition is intended for audiences from Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA). The event is designed by and for:
  • Clinicians and other health professionals
  • Health information technology users and buyers
  • Directors and administrators
  • Informatics professionals
  • Academicians
  • Relevant authorities and policy makers on regional and national levels
  • Relevant standardisation and competent authorities on international and national levels
  • Vendors (i.e. software and hardware development companies and professional services firms)
