Please join the AMIA Nursing Informatics Working Group for the 4th Annual Nursing Informatics Symposium on Saturday, November 10, 2007.

Consumer demand and national initiatives are prompting the development of Personal Health Records (PHRs). In order for PHRs to support patient centered care, nurses must leverage their role as patient advocates and partner with consumers to develop and implement useful, ethical and consumer-focused PHRs.

This one-day symposium will bring PHR experts from across the country together with consumer advocates and leaders in nursing informatics to discuss the nurse-consumer partnership.

Mark your calendar for a day that will include presentations, expert panels, and demonstrations of PHR innovation exemplars.

Topics include:

• Nurses as collaborators and advocates for PHRs
• Industry and national initiatives for PHRs
• Legal-ethical factors and social issues related to PHR adoption
• A consumer focus on adoption drivers and barriers to PHRs
• Relationship of PHRs to other national and industry initiatives (e.g., Heath Information Exchange and the Electronic Health Record)
