| Call for Abstracts: Health Information Capture Conference [Ft. Lauderdale, FL-Nov 07] Medical Records Institute (MRI) welcomes presentation abstracts from the user community for the 2nd Annual National Conference on Health Information Capture, taking place November 5-7, 2007 at the Marriott North in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. For most healthcare organizations, information capture is the single most expensive line item under HIT. Inefficient information capture costs hospitals $5,000 to $20,000 per clinician per year. And the legal risks of incomplete or inaccurate information have never been greater for both hospitals and practices. The Medical Records Institute seeks users from practices and in-patient settings to describe the savings and efficiency gains they've realized from capturing clinical information by using methods such as speech recognition, document imaging, mobile technologies such as tablets and smart phones, and other approaches. If you have such an implementation story to share with your peers (no solutions providers, please), submit your abstract no later than Friday, July 13, 2007 to Linda McLaughlin at linda@medrecinst.com. Educational sessions will address information capture methods and related issues including: * Comparison of systems for efficiency, accuracy and completeness, timeliness, cost savings * Medical Transcription (reducing costs of MT, improving quality and turnaround; alternatives to MT) * Handwriting Recognition * Direct computer input by clicking or touching * Document Imaging * Speech Recognition * Natural Language Understanding and Processing * Macros/Template Management * Bar code data capture * Mobile devices * New technologies user case studies (digital paper, tablets, smart phone entry, etc.) * Legal risks of information capture Please include within the body of the email (not as an attachment) the following information: * Proposed presentation title * Brief abstract of no more than 200 words * Speaker name, title, organization * Speaker contact info (phone, fax, email, mail address) Please note that Medical Records Institute does not provide honoraria or pay other expenses for speakers.
