Subject: Bayada Award for Technological Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice

APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 3, 2006

A new future of nursing practice is on the horizon, driven by surging demand, workforce shortages and technological innovation. Now, more than ever, nursing educators who must prepare students for the changing workplace, and nurses who must meet the challenges of patient care must create and adopt new technology.

Drexel University's College of Nursing and Health Professions has a tradition of innovation. Recognizing the importance of advanced technology into nursing, in 2004 Drexel initiated the Bayada Award for Technological Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice.

THE GOAL: to reward and recognize the lasting and vital contributions of nurses through their use of technology.

Drexel is now proud to announce the 3rd Annual Award.

"We have a strong tradition of innovation and we're proud to recognize individuals who share our commitment to meeting patient needs through the resourceful use of technology" said Dr. Gloria Donnelly, Dean of Drexel's College of Nursing and Health Professions.

Entries will be judged by the technology's innovativeness, and its impact on nursing education or patient care.

A blind judging will be performed by a panel of Drexel nursing and technology faculty.

The award is sponsored by J. Mark Baiada, Founder, Bayada Nurses and Mel Baiada, Benefactor, Drexel University's Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship in Technology. Bayada Nurses is an independently owned home health care agency that employs more than 6,000 RNs, LPNs, home health aides, and therapists working from more than 90 offices in 15 states. The College includes more than 15 programs, 125 faculty, and affiliations with some of the finest teaching hospitals in the U.S.
