| New CEO Named for National League for Nursing for 2007 BEVERLY MALONE NAMED NLN CEO Will lead essential membership organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 21, 2006 New York, NY.... NLN CEO Dr. Ruth Corcoran and NLN president Dr. Toni Bargagliotti announced today the appointment of Beverly Malone to the position of chief executive officer upon Dr. Corcoran's retirement in 2007. Dr. Malone will step down as general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing in January 2007 after nearly six years. During her tenure, membership of the RCN rose to 390,000, making it the largest trade union for nurses in the world. Prior to joining the college, she served as deputy assistant secretary of health in the US Department of Health and Human Services. From 1996 to 1999, Dr. Malone served as president of the American Nurses Association, acting as liaison between leaders and policymakers within the association, across government, and throughout the health care field. Said Dr. Corcoran in making the announcement, "I am not surprised that a nurse leader as accomplished and well known as Dr. Beverly Malone has been selected to serve as the NLN's new CEO. This is another indication of the renewed relevance and vitality of the NLN and of the organization's influence in creating the future of nursing education." "The National League for Nursing is positioned to participate in the many exciting and challenging events occurring in nursing today," added Dr. Bargagliotti. "Dr. Malone's experience, expertise, and vision will allow her to build on the NLN's solid foundation and past achievements and bring the organization new triumphs and success." http://www.nln.org/newsreleases/ceoa...ment_06_06.htm |
