Global Alliance for Nurses and Midwives looking for nursing informatics feedback

An email from Patti Abbott looking for some input from other nursing informatics professionals:
Quote:
Hi! I am writing to ask again for any nursing informatics people who are interested in dialoging with nurses, midwives, and other health workers around the globe in regards to nursing informatics and distributed e-learning to please participate in our "Global Alliance for Nurses and Midwives" online community. To learn more about the GANM: http://www.son.jhmi.edu/newsevents/n...ws.aspx?id=467

As you will see from the email cut and pasted below, two of the top three global needs of nurses and midwives are in education and Information technologies. Yet, the online sub-community of practice for ICT (Information and Communication technologies - which also includes distributed e-learning) is quite undersubscribed.

I am asking for this community of nursing informatics folks to consider joining in and participating in the online Community of Practice for ICT. There is not a lot of email that is generated, but traffic is coming into the site from the larger community GANM community. It is easy to set the preferences so that the mail comes immediately, in a daily digest, weekly, monthly, or never. In addition, setting up filters in outlook is pretty easy as well. In general, about one email per day comes in through the GANM. The ICT sub-community is quite quiet at present, but if you all get in there and start chatting - it might get busy enough for you to want to set your preferences or filters.

Anyway, our nursing colleagues around the globe need you. I am asking you to pl;ease consider participating in joining the GANM and the sub-community of ICT and then participating in the short survey below.

To join the GANM and the ICT:
http://my.ibpinitiative.org/public/Default.aspx?c=1325c561-2b21-449e-880e-6623a1214707 click on "register"

To enter the ICT/Distance Ed sub community, you can click here after registration:

Here is the request for the survey (should be done after you join the GANM). I would like to see ICT moving up a bit on the list!!!! I need you all to help with that.

Dear all,

We would like to thank all those who completed the survey this week, 66 in total.

As we are planning to support sub-communities and further discussions we are very interested in finding out which topics are of most interest and use to you. So far education and making pregnancy safer come out on top. After Megan invited people to join the MPS sub-community (click on http://tinyurl.com/y4t5w9 ) many more people have joined the MPS community and Sandra Land and Jody Lori have joined forces to facilitate the group.

What topics would you like the Forum to focus on?
- 50% Education
- 46% Making Pregnancy Safer
- 30% Information Technology
- 27% HIV/AIDS
- 16% Migration
- 26% Other, please specify

To fill out the survey please go to http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB225SZNYLRFC Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, to evaluate how we've done so far but more importantly how we can be of value in the future.

Thanks again and looking forward to hearing from you,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks so much!
Patti Abbott
Secretariat for the GANM and leader of the ICT sub community
